Last week in the NFL, scoring returned in a big way. After a couple weeks of really low scoring, there were a ton of points score in week 15. In fact, six different games had more than 50 points scored while 3 of those contests combined for more than 65 total point a piece. As a result, the over totals held an 8-6 advantage over the under totals this past weekend. However, heading into week 16 there is not a single game with a total over 49 which should be something to keep an eye on if scoring surges again. Another popular trend last week was the number of impressive road performances. The road teams were 8-5 SU last week. As a whole, road teams were 8-4-1 ATS against the home field advantage. It was also the first week in the month of December where the favored teams did not hold the advantage over the underdogs. The underdogs were also 8-4-1 ATS and road underdogs were even more impressive going 6-2 ATS. In fact, road underdogs are the big trend when looking at the week 16 NFL lines. Road teams will be underdogs in 14 of 16 contests this weekend. The only games that will feature away teams that are favored will be Sunday and Monday night featured NFC battles. However, the more important factor that will continue to shape out this week will be the postseason race. The NFC picture is becoming clearer, but the AFC race is still wide open with 6 different teams at 7-7 trying to fight their way into a wildcard spot. Last week in the NFL, our expected low scoring trend continued around the league as we have predicted.  The under totals were 8-4-1 compared to the over totals in week 14 of the NFL season. It was the 3rd week in a row where the under totals have outweighed the overs as defenses have controlled the tempo in later weeks. As for our other trends, favored teams took home an 8-5 mark ATS this week and home favorites were also fairly strong with a 5-3 mark ATS. The home vs. away teams battle has been back in forth all year and they actually split right down the middle at .500 for the week. Looking into the week 15 NFL lines, the playoff factor will likely play influence on our trends. One theme that is pretty consistent in the recent NFL lines is the number of home teams that are favored. Home teams are favored in 8 of the 12 contests, but do not let that fool you. There are a few away teams that really need to come through including the Dallas Cowboys, who will be 7 point underdogs against the Saints on Saturday night in a game that has an over/under total at the highest mark of the week;  holding steady at 53 ½. Also, the week fifteen NFL lines have a ton of games where teams are favored by a touchdown or more; which is rather unusual at this point in the season. In 8 of the 12 games the betting lines show a team favored by 7 points or more.  It is very likely that the outcomes will be much closer in some of those games meaning there are some sharp underdog plays to be made. The week 15 NFL betting will kickoff this Thursday night when the Indianapolis Colts put their undefeated campaign on the line against the Jaguars; a rematch that resulted in a close 14-12 win earlier this season for Peyton Manning and the mighty Colts. The week closes with the New York Giants on the road, trying to salvage postseason opportunities as they will be mere 3 point favorites over the Redskins on Monday Night Football. Once again scoring was low in the NFL as the under totals took a 10-5 winning margin against the over totals. Defense is especially becoming a bigger factor just ask the Minnesota Vikings who were shut down by the Arizona defense after being one of the hottest offenses in the NFL over the past few weeks. In fact, scoring is expected to drop again this week. Outside of the meeting between Dallas and San Diego, the highest over/under total stands at a measly 44 ½ mark. As far as other action is concerned, this was the first week in about a month where the home teams outshined the away teams against the spread. Home teams were 9-6 ATS vs. away foes and the home teams also won 10 out of the 16 overall contests throughout the weekend as well. Other interesting factors from week 13 include the underdogs vs. the favorites which have been back and forth over the past weeks. However, this past week was pretty close to the equilibrium as favored teams held a slight advantage over the underdogs at 7-6-2 mark ATS. The home teams have held a pretty sizeable advantage throughout the year as favorites each week against the away teams even though the results have been pretty equal. Looking at the week 14 NFL lines, again however, the home teams will be favored in 9 of the 14 games this weekend, with the exception of Buffalo at Kansas City which is listed at even money currently. Another important factor in the week 14 NFL lines is the playoff picture that will be really taking shape. There are 10 different games favored by a single score or less which may not be very surprising considering how many teams are in a “must win” scenario. However, there are 4 other games that currently are favored by double digits. Week 14 will start off with the defending Super Bowl Champions in the Pittsburgh Steelers who will be trying to salvage postseason hopes in a trip to Cleveland and the week will end as Arizona looks to clinch the NFC West at San Francisco. If you can remember week 11 was highlighted by the underdogs that went 10-5 ATS regaining their stronghold over the favorites. However, one week and a few turkeys later the favorites roared back with a 9-5-1 ATS mark in week 12. Perhaps on an even more impressive run were the home teams that dominated the week. Dallas and Denver captured convincing wins at home on Thanksgiving Day and the trend continued throughout the weekend as home teams were a stout 13-3 SU. However, the home teams were again under the .500 mark against the spread for the second straight week going 6-8-1 ATS. Not all home teams struggles considering the home favorites were 6-3-1 ATS. One of the interesting factors that intrigued us heading into the week was the number of close games favored by a field goal or less. In those game, the favorites were 5-1-1 ATS. Also, if you remember correctly we have been warning for the possible upcoming trend with the under totals. In week 11, that trend finally hit with under totals out weighing the over totals 9-4-1. The trend continued this week again as the under totals were 10-5 vs. over totals as defenses have taken over as normal in the latter part of the season. In fact, there is not a single total this week over the 47 mark making it one of the lowest predicted scoring weeks of the season. As far as the rest of week 13 NFL lines, the majority of the home teams (7-5) will actually be underdogs for the first time in about two months of football. There are two pick’em contests on the board which could change before kickoff time in contests involving San Francisco at Seattle and Houston at Jacksonville. Some other interesting week 13 games involve Dallas attempting to take total control of the NFC East at the New York Giants and also the red hot Titans who will try to knock Indianapolis off the unbeaten ranks. Well Happy Thanksgiving first and foremost as we turn our attention to week 12 NFL lines. If you like betting on the underdogs, then hopefully you took advantage of week 11 lines as the underdogs were an impressive 10-5 ATS. The week got started with a home favorite in the Carolina Panthers going down to the Miami Dolphins and also ended with another home favorite in the Houston Texans falling to the Tennessee Titans. After the home teams took down a 9-6 mark ATS two weeks ago, they did a complete 180 degree turn going just 6-9 ATS last week. Home teams in general did battle to bring home a 9-6 SU mark. However, the away teams were still the most impressive especially in games that where predicted to be grudge matches. Away teams were 5-0 ATS in the 5 games with lines favoring teams less than 5 points differential. However, entering week 12, the home teams will be heavy favorites in the week 12 spreads as they have been nearly every week with the home teams being favored in 9 out of the 14 games featured in the upcoming week. As for the Thanksgiving Day NFL lines, the Cowboys will be the only home team favored to win as they will be near two touchdowns favorites over the Raiders. Turkey day will also kick off with Green Bay in a trip to Detroit and capped off by an interesting night time battle between the Giants and Broncos. The remaining week 12 lines feature 6 different matches that are favored by a field goal or less meaning there should be some interesting games to keep on your radar. The over/under battle finally took the low end turn we have been anticipating last week. Teams reached the under total in 9 of 14 games with one push. As a result, the over/under totals are down this week with the only total over 48 points coming from the heavily anticipated offensive collision featured Monday night when the Patriots try to take down Drew Brees and the unbeaten Saints. It was an exciting week of football in the NFL last week. The Colts and Patriots collided in one of the most exciting games of the year with a shocking turn of events that lead the Colts to a two touchdown comeback in the final 5 minutes of the game. After two straight 7-6 weeks taken advantage by the under totals, scoring soared this week as the over totals stood at yet another 9-6 mark on the week. We warned last week to look out for the under totals as weather cools off and defenses become a bigger factor. However, that was not the case last week as weather did not play much of a factor throughout the league. Entering week 11 there are plenty of interesting lines to consider. Week 11 will get started when two emerging hopefuls in Miami and Carolina collide this Thursday night. The Panthers will be 3 points home favorites as they seek to get back to the .500 mark. As a whole, the home teams out favor the away teams at yet another 9-6 mark for week 11. As you can see the numbers 9 and 6 seem to be a reoccurring theme. In fact there are 6 different teams that will be favored by 9 points or more as well this week which is the most lop sided the betting lines have been in many weeks. One of the key week 11 NFL lines that jump out is the Baltimore Ravens who are the slightest of favorites when they host the undefeated Indianapolis Colts. The Colts survived last week thanks to Patriots Coach Bill Belichick’s own personal mistake to go for it on 4th down and 2 from the Patriots own 28 yard line with about 2 minutes to go in the game. The Colts will now be slight underdogs for the first time this season as they hope to avoid any letdown performances. If you happened to place a few wagers on NFL Football last week, then hopefully your action sided with the underdogs. Week 10 was perhaps the biggest week for the underdogs this season as they were 10-3 ATS this week. It was perhaps one of the biggest lop sided weeks for the favorites vs. underdogs just proving that betting on favorites is not always best. One common theme we have noticed in the week 10 NFL lines is the large number of home favorites, where home teams are favored in 10 of the listed 15 games. The home teams were heavy favorites last week despite getting dominated against the spread, but the bookies show liking to the home teams again. One thing that is expected is close games in week 10. There are 6 different match-ups with lines holding at a field goal or less. Also scoring is expected to be down this week as there is not one single game over the 50 point total as the over/under totals have steadily decreased in past weeks as a whole. Possibly the most interesting game of the week is the undefeated Indianapolis Colts who will host the New England Patriots for AFC supremacy on Sunday night.
