The 2012 college football season is said and done with, and here at Bankroll Sports, we are already taking the time to look at the 2013 college football national championship odds in an effort to find some big time winners with great value.

That being said, the first team that comes to mind has to be the one that just lost the BCS National Championship Game, the LSU Tigers (Odds To Win The College Football Championship: 3.85 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook). The Bayou Bengals are going to have to have a significantly easier time running the table in 2012 than they did in 2011. They do have to take on Auburn, Florida, Texas A&M, and Arkansas on the road, but they also get Alabama and South Carolina at home. The non-conference schedule, which was littered with the likes of Oregon and West Virginia this year, features North Texas, Washington, Idaho, and Towson, and all four games are played at home. Head Coach Les Miles is returning a slew of players from this year’s team, which many thought might be considered one of the best in the nation, but thanks to the fact that that game against the Crimson Tide is going to be at home, we have to take LSU this year, not Alabama with both teams at comparable odds.

Things set up really well this coming season for the USC Trojans (Odds To Win the 2013 National Championship: 8 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook). The Men of Troy got some great news when QB Matt Barkley decided that he was going to come back to school for his senior year, and with that being the case, there are going to be a ton of teams that are going to face the wrath of what should be an absolutely amazing offense. A trip at Stanford won’t be nearly as hard this year as the trip to Oregon was this year, and the Ducks are coming to Pasadena. The non-conference slate is difficult, but home games against Hawaii and Notre Dame and a road test essentially at Syracuse (though at MetLife Stadium, not at the Carrier Dome) should be manageable. Don’t be shocked if USC runs the table next year, and in its first year back from the bowl ban, it is able to challenge for the whole enchilada.

The next team in line that we are going to look at is the Georgia Bulldogs (2013 National Championship Odds: 30 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook). Once again, the schedule makers have done some major favors here for the Dawgs, who again avoid the toughest teams in the West Division. Not only are both LSU and Alabama not on the slate, but neither is Texas A&M. The toughest tests are going to be at the Missouri Tigers (9/8) and at the South Carolina Gamecocks (10/6), but aside from that, the rest of this schedule isn’t all that bad by SEC standards. Georgia Tech is at home this year as well, and with the way that UGA finished up this season, we see no reason why QB Aaron Murray can’t lead this team to at least an 11-1 regular season, which as we have found out in the SEC, is generally more than enough to play for the National Championship.

The team with all of the hype surrounding it this year will be the Florida State Seminoles (2013 College Football Championship Odds: 12 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook). QB EJ Manuel is back in the saddle, and in games in which he played this year, the FSU offense was quite good. The Noles went 9-1 in the games that Manuel both started and finished. Next year, the ACC schedule isn’t exactly kind, with road dates against Miami and Virginia Tech, but Clemson and Wake Forest, the two biggest competitiors in all likelihood in the ACC Atlantic Division are at home. West Virginia is scheduled to come to Tallahassee, but that game may be replaced with a second straight FBS foe when push comes to shove, and the other two non-conferene affairs are against South Florida on the road (9/29) and at home against Florida (11/24).

With this being their last season in the MWC, we still have some confidence that the Boise State Broncos (NCAA Football Championship Odds: 50 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook) at least have a bit of a shot to take the national title next year. Head Coach Chris Petersen is staying in Boise for another year, and young freshman QB Nick Patti highlights another tremendous recruiting class. The first game of the year is slated to be at the Michigan State Spartans, and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles and BYU Cougars should also make for some tough challenges, but we know that when push comes to shove, Boise State will have a shot in all of those games. Again, we don’t really see anyone challenging this team this year in the MWC, especially with those pesky Horned Frogs now out of the way.

After months of waiting from the final gun of the Alabama/Texas National Championship Game, the college football betting season is back! With kickoff just hours away for the start of the season, here at Bankroll Sports, we are making our final NCAA football predictions with our BCS National Championship picks!

Boise State Broncos (+800 @ BetUS Sportsbook): It’s going to be incredibly difficult to beat the Broncos this season. The oddsmakers are essentially making them the favorites to go the BCS Championship Game, as they are clearly on East Street if they can get past the Virginia Tech Hokies on Monday night at FedEx Field. With 21 of the team’s 22 starters returning from a year ago, it’s hard to complain about anything that HC Chris Petersen has put together. This is the ring bearer for non-BCS conference schools to walk behind, and most of them are pulling for the Broncos to pull off the upset of upsets this year. Plain and simple, this is the team that you want to win it all in all likelihood if your team can’t do it. Boise will be in the title game if it can win this weekend.

Iowa Hawkeyes (+2000 @ BetUS Sportsbook): Save a road game at the Arizona Wildcats, the rest of the tough matchups for the Hawkeyes this year are going to be at home. Last year, Iowa snuck up on a ton of teams, but we must remember that wins against Penn State and Wisconsin and the near upset against Ohio State all came on the road. Guess which three teams all have to pay a visit to Kinnick Stadium this year? If you had to buy season tickets for one team to see the best college football betting action all year long, Iowa would be where you want to go. QB Ricky Stanzi has still never been beaten as a starting quarterback, and in a power conference where an undefeated season almost always leaves you in the BCS title game, there is no reason to believe that Iowa can’t take a perfect record deep into the fall once again this year. These are still fantastic odds on a team that is essentially intact from last year.

TCU Horned Frogs (+2000 @ BetUS Sportsbook): Is it really out of the question for the Horned Frogs to be playing the Broncos for all the marbles this year? The two programs certainly put on a great show last season in the Fiesta Bowl, making the BCS proud for doing the right thing and welcoming both non BCS schools to the show. TCU returns the bulk of its starters from a year ago, though replacing RB Joseph Turner, LB Daryl Washington, and DE Jerry Hughes will be difficult. Still, the Horned Frogs have an easiest enough schedule in the MWC that they should be able to get through with a chance to be unscathed. If they pull it off and enough chaos ensues, you never know what could happen… We’ve seen stranger things. Regardless, we think there is a significantly better chance than 1 out of 20 than TCU ends up winning the whole enchilada this year. Don’t be shocked if the Horned Frogs absolutely roll Oregon State this weekend to move up in the Top 10.

Pittsburgh Panthers (+5000 @ BetUS Sportsbook): It’s a bit of a reach, but if the Panthers can survive this road test at the Utah Utes this weekend, they will almost certainly jump into the Top 10 in the country, and deservedly so. Are you willing to pass on +5000 odds on a Top 10 team to win the National Championship? We certainly aren’t. We know that the Panthers already have one of the best running backs in the country in the form of RB Dion Lewis, who rushed for 1,799 yards a year ago. He could break all sorts of school and NCAA rushing records over the course of the next three years. As QB Tino Sunseri gets more comfortable with his surroundings, the Panthers are going to be tougher and tougher to beat. Good luck throwing against this ferocious pass rush as well. Odds have it, Pittsburgh will get picked off a couple times at some point this season. However, especially early on, if the tests are survived, the Panthers are a great choice.

There may not be much attention on the college football front this time of year with basketball season in full stride and football season around 6 months away. However, with National Signing Day wrapped up it is a great time to evaluate the best of the best for next season. The SEC was crowned for their 3rd straight National Championship last season and they also earned the top two recruiting classes for 2009. However, with the competition getting pretty equal in the SEC and perhaps this is the year that the SEC will not even send a team to the title game. Florida Gators

The 2009 and 2007 National Champions will get their heroic Heisman quarterback to return next season in Tim Tebow. Florida lost one of their key playmakers Percy Harvin who declared for the NFL draft a year early. WR Louis Murphy is also gone meaning the Gators will lose their top two receivers. Tebow will have to look towards a very young group of receivers. 2009 Signee Andre Debose will come in and challenge for playing time right from the start, but the question will be if the Gators will have same explosive type offense. Brandon Spikes elected to return for his senior season and he will hold down the middle of a tenacious defense that dominated the SEC last season. The defense should be a championship contender, but the offense could be questionable. However if we learned anything from last season never count out Tebow.

USC Trojans

USC might have suffered a bit of a shock during the off-season when Mark Sanchez announced that he would leave for the NFL after only one season as the starter. Santa Ana, California native and signee Matt Barkley could come in and be the man behind center as a freshman for the Trojans. However, the real hit the Trojans took was losing the majority of their potent defense. The Trojans lost nearly all their key guys on the defensive side of the ball including all of the linebacker core and mainly Rey Maualuga. The Trojans ranked first in total defense and scoring defense last season, but things are not likely to be so pleasant on the defensive side of the ball this season.

Prediction: Pretender

Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma will have Sam Bradford the 2009 Heisman winning quarterback behind center next season. Similar to Florida, Oklahoma lost some key guys through the wide receiving group. The main loss will be Juaquin Iglesias whose eligibility ran out after a strong senior campaign where he led the team with 1,150 receiving yards. The remaining receiving core is young and unpolished. However, the Sooners could compensate that loss if they could run the ball as effectively as last season. Chris Brown and DeMarco Murray both reached the 1,000 yard mark last season and they will need the same this year. Unfortunately for the Sooners, I believe Texas will be the most well rounded team in the Big 12 next year.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama was by far the surprise team in the SEC last season and probably one of the biggest surprise stories in America. Nick Saban has the tradition back in Tuscaloosa as the Crimson Tide went through the regular season undefeated before losing to Florida and missing out on a National Championship opportunity. John Parker Wilson is gone leaving some questions behind center. However, the Crimson Tide resorted to a ground and pound type offense backed by stellar defensive style of play last season that worked very well. Glen Coffee will get the carries again this season as one of the best backs in the SEC and the defense should be very strong meaning not much will change no matter who is behind center. After two straight number 1 recruiting classes, there could be a re-match in store for the SEC Championship with Florida.

Penn State Nittany Lions

The Nittany Lions nearly put together a championship run a year ago before losing their first game the first week of November to Iowa. This is the same Nittany Lion team that put up 24 points against the dynamic USC Trojan defense that will return many of the same starters on the offensive side of the ball. Penn State should return another strong defense in 2009 as well. Considering they will catch the Big Ten in a rather down year, if they can get by Ohio State and win the games they are suppose to then they could make another run at a championship. The Nittany Lion offense will have a pair of stellar running backs in the backfield in Evan Royster and Stephon Green that should lead them to see some glory days in Happy Valley
