The first week of the 2010 NFL football regular season is nearly here! In order to get you prepped for all of the festivities, Bankroll Sports has our analysis along with quick rundown of all the week 1 NFL lines and everything else you need to know for the opening week of the year!

Where else could we start than with a rematch of the epic NFC Championship Game?!?! The New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings will get the season started with their opening game broadcasted on NBC. We now know that the Vikings are going to have QB Brett Favre under center, but there is still a significant question whether or not he is really ready to go. Favre took a beating in this game last year and after throwing no TDs and two picks in the preseason, there is reason to believe that this could be a long night in the Bayou.

The biggest favorites of Week 1 at this point are the New York Giants against the Carolina Panthers. The G-Men are favored by a full seven points. This is a rare week with a ton of chalk coming on the road, but double digit favorites will inevitably become avaiable for hosts again next week.

Brand new quarterbacks are going to be en vouge for various NFL teams in Week 1, the Panthers of which are one of them. In all likelihood, Matt Moore will be starting on Opening Day for Carolina, marking the first time that Jake Delhomme didn’t start under center for the team in a number of years. Speaking of Delhomme, he’ll be the new man in charge for the Cleveland Browns, who are three point underdogs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1.

The quarterback changes continue in Pittsburgh, where QB Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended for at least the first month of the season. With Byron Leftwich battling an injured knee, it appears as though Dennis Dixon is going to be given the task of leading the troops in black and gold into battle against the Atlanta Falcons. The hosts are rare underdogs at home, as they are 2.5 point pups.

The only rookie quarterback that is starting in Week 1 is Sam Bradford with the St. Louis Rams. Bradford, the team’s top pick in the NFL Draft, clearly outplayed QB AJ Feeley for the starting job, particularly in a road win at the New England Patriots in the third week of the preseason. St. Louis is hosting the Arizona Cardinals, another team getting used to a new quarterback. QB Derek Anderson performed well enough in the Cards’ exhibitions that QB Matt Leinart, once considered the future of the franchise, was released outright. Anderson and the rest of his Arizona mates are four point road favorites at the Edward Jones Dome.

Both the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins will be playing new QBs as well. The ‘Skins made arguably the move of the offseason by trading for long-time Eagles QB Donovan McNabb. McNabb’s Redskins were once 3.5 point pups to their rivals, the Dallas Cowboys at home in Week 1, but with McNabb still up in the air injured, the line has been taken off the board. For Philadelphia, QB Kevin Kolb is the man in charge of the team now that McNabb is gone. Kolb showed plenty of promise in his few appearances before McNabb departed, but the oddsmakers aren’t showing the Eagles any love. They are short three point home underdogs to the Green Bay Packers in Week 1.

New Meadowlands Stadium will be opening with both the New York Giants and New York Jets will be playing in Week 1. The Giants will kick off against Carolina, while the Jets are going to be playing on Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens. The home team is favored by 2.5 points in that NFL betting encounter.

Complete List of Week 1 College Football Lines Can Be Found Below

Most of the 120 teams across the country in FBS are set to kick it off between Thursday and next Monday, and here at Bankroll Sports, we’ve got all you need to know when you’re ready to analyze the Week 1 college football betting lines!

As always, there are a number of huge favorites that are going to be all over the board in the first week of play across the nation. The Ohio State Buckeyes, USC Trojans, Michigan State Spartans, Florida Gators, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma Sooners, Wisconsin Badgers, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Clemson Tigers, and Auburn Tigers are all favored by at least three touchdowns will be likely coast to easy victories against their lesser foes.

However, not every game on the slate has such little intrigue. On the opening day of the season on Thursday, the Utah Utes and Pittsburgh Panthers will square off in a rematch of the first ever BCS busting game. The Utes became the first team from a non-BCS conference to make it to a major bowl game, and they crippled the Panthers that day at the Fiesta Bowl. This will be the first time these two squads meet. Second year men will be on display, as RB Dion Lewis for Pitt and QB Jordan Wynn for Utah will be at center stage.

Keep as close eye as well on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders on Thursday, as QB Dwight Dasher might be able to lead the hosts to a big win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. MTSU is a three point underdog but is certainly a live dog that might be worth backing.

The Connecticut Huskies and Michigan Wolverines will fight it out in the Big House in what could be a huge game for both programs. The Huskies are still searching for some respect, and Heisman Trophy candidate, RB Jordan Todman will be the main focus of the attack. This is a do or die year for HC Rich Rodriguez in Ann Arbor, and he’ll need to come forth with a good effort to start the season or risk the wrath of the media and boosters calling for his head before the Big Ten season even gets started. This is a game that Michigan certainly expects to win even though it is just a three point favorite.

There are two big time rivalry games to keep on your radar as well. The Colorado Buffaloes will meet the Colorado State Rams at Mile High in a neutral site game to determine the top team in the Rockies for another year. It’s a big one for HC Dan Hawkins, who knows that a second straight loss to a poor CSU squad will ultimately probably cost him his job. The Buffs are 13 point favorites.

It’ll also be a battle to see whether the Bluegrass becomes a red state or a blue state, as Joker Phillips takes over the Kentucky Wildcats and Charlie Strong starts his coaching career with the Louisville Cardinals. Both of these new coaches would love a win over their arch rivals to get the teams going in 2010, but only one will cover the NCAA football odds in this one. The visiting Wildcats are favored by 3.5 points.

Saturday night wraps up with a crucial tilt between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Fresno State Bulldogs. We all know HC Pat Hill’s mantra… Anyone, anytime, anywhere. Cincinnati has no fear of coming West, as it did so last year in beating Oregon State en route to its perfect regular season. QB Zach Collaros will have a ton of pressure on his backside in this game, as he is taking over for QB Tony Pike. New HC Butch Jones is a 2.5 point underdog in this, his first game at U of C, but the Cats could scratch out a victory to open up their campaign.

However, Week 1 wouldn’t be complete without one of the biggest games of the entire year. The Boise State Broncos are probably going to put their BCS dreams on the line at FedEx Field when they take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in a “neutral site game” that is going to look at lot like Lane Stadium would on your average Saturday. The stars will be shining in this, the first Top 10 battle of the year. The winner will have a massive leg up towards the BCS this year, while the loser will already have their National Championship hopes dashed in Week 1. The Broncos have finally gained some respect against the big boys in the big conferences, as they are 2.5 point favorites in this de facto road game.

Complete List of Week 1 NFL Preseason Lines Can Be Found Below

NFL preseason betting action started last Sunday with the Hall of Fame Game, as the Dallas Cowboys knocked off the Cincinnati Bengals 16-7. The other 30 teams kick off their season this week, as NFL wagering warriors have a full slate of 16 games to sink their teeth into.

As always, the oddsmakers are having a tough time deciding which team to favor and by how many points in the first week of preseason action. Thirteen of the 16 home teams are favored this week, but none by more than 3.5 points. The only teams that are underdogs at home are the Indianapolis Colts and the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals are playing against the perennial preseason powers, the Houston Texans. The quarterback rotation for the Texans might not be superior to that of the Cardinals, but in the end, the depth that Houston has at its disposal is just better than Arizona’s, which is why the oddsmakers have installed them as slender one point choices.

As for the Colts, they are sluggish during every preseason, as QB Peyton Manning rarely plays and his reserves are basically commanded to try to make the game go by as quickly as possible. When you’re as good as Indy is, you don’t need four preseason games to figure out what your rotation is going to look like in the regular season. You know that #18 is going to be chucking the pigskin all over the field, and everything else will typically work itself out.

The most intriguing game on the slate this week comes between the Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Rams. Both teams are going to have a fierce battle for the starting quarterback position. The Vikes, mired in the Brett Favre saga, are going to enter battle in the preseason with Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels, and Joe Webb battling to become the successor to the great #4 in purple. The city of St. Louis should enjoy the debut of QB Sam Bradford, the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft from this year. Along with Bradford though, HC Steve Spagnuolo is going to have AJ Feeley, Keith Null, and rookie Thaddeus Lewis to take a look at.

That Vikes/Rams duel on Saturday night has the lowest posted ‘total’ on the board at 31.5. The highest ‘total’ is only 35, with that coming on the first game of the first full week of play in the preseason between the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots.

Last week in the NFL, scoring returned in a big way. After a couple weeks of really low scoring, there were a ton of points score in week 15. In fact, six different games had more than 50 points scored while 3 of those contests combined for more than 65 total point a piece. As a result, the over totals held an 8-6 advantage over the under totals this past weekend. However, heading into week 16 there is not a single game with a total over 49 which should be something to keep an eye on if scoring surges again. Another popular trend last week was the number of impressive road performances. The road teams were 8-5 SU last week. As a whole, road teams were 8-4-1 ATS against the home field advantage. It was also the first week in the month of December where the favored teams did not hold the advantage over the underdogs. The underdogs were also 8-4-1 ATS and road underdogs were even more impressive going 6-2 ATS. In fact, road underdogs are the big trend when looking at the week 16 NFL lines. Road teams will be underdogs in 14 of 16 contests this weekend. The only games that will feature away teams that are favored will be Sunday and Monday night featured NFC battles. However, the more important factor that will continue to shape out this week will be the postseason race. The NFC picture is becoming clearer, but the AFC race is still wide open with 6 different teams at 7-7 trying to fight their way into a wildcard spot. Check out all of those important playoff games with their respected betting lines below as we continue to approach the end of the NFL regular season. Last week in the NFL, our expected low scoring trend continued around the league as we have predicted.  The under totals were 8-4-1 compared to the over totals in week 14 of the NFL season. It was the 3rd week in a row where the under totals have outweighed the overs as defenses have controlled the tempo in later weeks. As for our other trends, favored teams took home an 8-5 mark ATS this week and home favorites were also fairly strong with a 5-3 mark ATS. The home vs. away teams battle has been back in forth all year and they actually split right down the middle at .500 for the week. Looking into the week 15 NFL lines, the playoff factor will likely play influence on our trends. One theme that is pretty consistent in the recent NFL lines is the number of home teams that are favored. Home teams are favored in 8 of the 12 contests, but do not let that fool you. There are a few away teams that really need to come through including the Dallas Cowboys, who will be 7 point underdogs against the Saints on Saturday night in a game that has an over/under total at the highest mark of the week;  holding steady at 53 ½. Also, the week fifteen NFL lines have a ton of games where teams are favored by a touchdown or more; which is rather unusual at this point in the season. In 8 of the 12 games the betting lines show a team favored by 7 points or more.  It is very likely that the outcomes will be much closer in some of those games meaning there are some sharp underdog plays to be made. The week 15 NFL betting will kickoff this Thursday night when the Indianapolis Colts put their undefeated campaign on the line against the Jaguars; a rematch that resulted in a close 14-12 win earlier this season for Peyton Manning and the mighty Colts. The week closes with the New York Giants on the road, trying to salvage postseason opportunities as they will be mere 3 point favorites over the Redskins on Monday Night Football. Once again scoring was low in the NFL as the under totals took a 10-5 winning margin against the over totals. Defense is especially becoming a bigger factor just ask the Minnesota Vikings who were shut down by the Arizona defense after being one of the hottest offenses in the NFL over the past few weeks. In fact, scoring is expected to drop again this week. Outside of the meeting between Dallas and San Diego, the highest over/under total stands at a measly 44 ½ mark. As far as other action is concerned, this was the first week in about a month where the home teams outshined the away teams against the spread. Home teams were 9-6 ATS vs. away foes and the home teams also won 10 out of the 16 overall contests throughout the weekend as well. Other interesting factors from week 13 include the underdogs vs. the favorites which have been back and forth over the past weeks. However, this past week was pretty close to the equilibrium as favored teams held a slight advantage over the underdogs at 7-6-2 mark ATS. The home teams have held a pretty sizeable advantage throughout the year as favorites each week against the away teams even though the results have been pretty equal. Looking at the week 14 NFL lines, again however, the home teams will be favored in 9 of the 14 games this weekend, with the exception of Buffalo at Kansas City which is listed at even money currently. Another important factor in the week 14 NFL lines is the playoff picture that will be really taking shape. There are 10 different games favored by a single score or less which may not be very surprising considering how many teams are in a “must win” scenario. However, there are 4 other games that currently are favored by double digits. Week 14 will start off with the defending Super Bowl Champions in the Pittsburgh Steelers who will be trying to salvage postseason hopes in a trip to Cleveland and the week will end as Arizona looks to clinch the NFC West at San Francisco. Take a look at all the other games in between as we head towards another exciting week of football. Lines can be found at BetUS Sportsbook as seen below. If you can remember week 11 was highlighted by the underdogs that went 10-5 ATS regaining their stronghold over the favorites. However, one week and a few turkeys later the favorites roared back with a 9-5-1 ATS mark in week 12. Perhaps on an even more impressive run were the home teams that dominated the week. Dallas and Denver captured convincing wins at home on Thanksgiving Day and the trend continued throughout the weekend as home teams were a stout 13-3 SU. However, the home teams were again under the .500 mark against the spread for the second straight week going 6-8-1 ATS. Not all home teams struggles considering the home favorites were 6-3-1 ATS. One of the interesting factors that intrigued us heading into the week was the number of close games favored by a field goal or less. In those game, the favorites were 5-1-1 ATS. Also, if you remember correctly we have been warning for the possible upcoming trend with the under totals. In week 11, that trend finally hit with under totals out weighing the over totals 9-4-1. The trend continued this week again as the under totals were 10-5 vs. over totals as defenses have taken over as normal in the latter part of the season. In fact, there is not a single total this week over the 47 mark making it one of the lowest predicted scoring weeks of the season. As far as the rest of week 13 NFL lines, the majority of the home teams (7-5) will actually be underdogs for the first time in about two months of football. There are two pick’em contests on the board which could change before kickoff time in contests involving San Francisco at Seattle and Houston at Jacksonville. Some other interesting week 13 games involve Dallas attempting to take total control of the NFC East at the New York Giants and also the red hot Titans who will try to knock Indianapolis off the unbeaten ranks. Check out all the other week 13 NFL betting lines brought to you courtesy of BetUS Sportsbook.
