2012 Up To Date World Series Odds, Picks, & World Series Predictions
May 5th, 2012 byThe month of May has gotten started for MLB betting fans, and here at Bankroll Sports, we are taking yet another look at the updated World Series odds for 2012. Join us for our MLB picks for the rest of the season!
The new favorites on the odds to win the World Series this year are the Texas Rangers (2012 Favorites On The Odds To Win The World Series – 4.50 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook). The Rangers aren’t quite as hot as they were at the outset of the season, but they are still 4.5 games ahead of the Oakland Athletics for first place in the AL West and 7.5 ahead of the team that figures to be the biggest challenge for the year, the Los Angeles Angels. There just isn’t a day off in terms of starting pitchers when you get the Rangers, and that pitching depth is only going to help out a lineup that is one of the best in baseball as well. With the rest of the American League starting to take a turn for the worse for the most part, the Rangers are clearly a team that you are going to want to back on the World Series odds.
List Of Past World Series Champions (Since 2000)
2011 World Series Champions: St. Louis Cardinals
2010 World Series Champions: San Francisco Giants
2009 World Series Champions: New York Yankees
2008 World Series Champions: Philadelphia Phillies
2007 World Series Champions: Boston Red Sox
2006 World Series Champions: St. Louis Cardinals
2005 World Series Champions: Chicago White Sox
2004 World Series Champions: Boston Red Sox
2003 World Series Champions: Florida Marlins
2002 World Series Champions: Anaheim Angels
2001 World Series Champions: Arizona Diamondbacks
2000 World Series Champions: New York Yankees
Elsewhere in the American League, we think that the Tampa Bay Rays (2012 Odds To Win The World Series – 14 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook) have great MLB odds for the rest of the year. The Rays are 19-8 and in first place in the AL East, and they are just starting to get into the thick of one of their easiest stretches of the schedule. Tampa Bay is 13-1 at Tropicana Field this year, and as long as that keeps up, this team is going to be a wreck to try to beat. The New York Yankees no longer have Mariano Rivera, and the Boston Red Sox are still trying to get out of the gutter in the division, and with a 4.5 game lead on the Yanks and seven on the Sox, we have to think that Tampa Bay is going to be winning this division.
In the National League, the team that we are ready to get hitched to is the Washington Nationals (2012 World Series Odds – 20 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook). We just look around at the rest of the National League right now and shake our head. We think that the Philadelphia Phillies are a bit of a farce, and there just aren’t any other teams in this league that we think are going to be absolute locks for the playoffs. Stephen Strasburg is pitching like a Cy Young Award winner, while Bryce Harper has already flashed some remarkable skills in the outfield and might be one of the best outfielders that baseball has to offer by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, in the NL West, we really don’t have a lot of confidence in a lot of the rest of the teams in this division. The San Francisco Giants clearly don’t have the pitching that they once did with Tim Lincecum losing a lot of his velocity, while the Arizona Diamondbacks just seem to be a team that is going to be hovering right around .500 for most of the year. Instead, the Los Angeles Dodgers (2012 World Series Lines – 27 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook) are stealing headlines left and right and might be set to go to the playoffs. There is a new ownership group in Tinseltown, and the team is playing well. Chad Billingsley has found his stuff again, and if he and Clayton Kershaw keep pitching like this, this might be the best 1-2 punch in NL West. The Dodgers might turn out to be legit this year.
Of all of the teams at the bottom of the odds to win the World Series, there aren’t a lot that we would be willing to take a shot on. However, we at least would be willing to take a look at the Cleveland Indians (Odds To Win the 2012 World Series – 66 to 1 at SportBet Sportsbook). The team goes into this weekend four games above .500, and there are already nine wins in 12 games on the road this year. Jason Kipnis is playing well, and Carlos Santana is turning into one of the best catchers in the game. At some point, Ubaldo Jimenez and Justin Masterson are likely to not have ERAs in the fives as well. Derek Lowe has been a great addition for this team as well. The Tribe are still a long way out, but with five teams getting into the playoffs this year and the Detroit Tigers starting to look like they are going to fall apart, the Indians might be a team to watch out for at these types of odds.
