The NFL Week 1 lines are always extremely tough to gauge, especially with three more weeks still to play before we reach the start of the games that count. This year, things will be even tougher, as training camps were shorter and rookies really didn’t get a chance to start playing until just a few weeks ago thanks to the NFL lockout. Still, these games are huge and are meaningful right out of the block.

The season kicks off on Thursday, September 8th with the defending Super Bowl champs, the Green Bay Packers hosting the Super Bowl winners from two years ago, the New Orleans Saints. The Saints are relatively hefty four point underdogs in this one, a certain sign of disrespect for a team that they finished with a better record than a year ago. If New Orleans is truly the better of these two teams, this will be a heck of a fight between two teams that are hoping to be in the NFC Championship Game this year.

This is the second straight season that the Houston Texans are going to open up against the Indianapolis Colts. Last year, Houston came away with a relatively easy 34-24 ‘W’ thanks to an absolutely amazing day by RB Arian Foster, who rushed for 231 yards and three TDs. This season, the Colts are in some trouble because there was no significant improvement in terms of personnel, and QB Peyton Manning now knows that he is out for at least the foreseeable future, if not for the entire season (as of Friday morning). Are his best days behind him? The oddsmakers think so, because Houston is a whopping nine point favorite on the Week 1 odds.

The week one schedule will also put the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers against one another. These two teams are almost always postseason clubs, and this year should be no exception. These are two veteran laden teams who hope to get back to AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs; where Pittsburgh ousted Baltimore a season ago. As always, this should be a hard hitting slug fest. Both road teams won in this series last year, with SS Troy Polamalu making the play of the game forcing a fumble on QB Joe Flacco. Think the oddsmakers know that this one will be close? The NFL week one odds have Baltimore favored by 2.5, the value of home field advantage against the Steelers.

Also in Week 1, we have a total of four nationally televised games instead of the usual two or three. We’ve already talked about New Orleans/Green Bay, but we haven’t spoken of the others yet. The Dallas Cowboys are four point underdogs at the New York Jets in what is slated to be the first regular season game back in the saddle for QB Tony Romo.

Monday Night Football features a pair of games, as the New England Patriots open up as 5.5 point favorites but have since raised to seven over the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium, and the Denver Broncos are three point choices of the oddsmakers at home against the Oakland Raiders.

There are only two teams that are favored by more than a TD in Week 1. One is Houston over Indianapolis. The San Diego Chargers are nine point favorites against the Minnesota Vikings as they hope to get this year off on the right foot after surprisingly missing out on the postseason last year.

‘Totals’ are generally a tad lower than usual on the NFL Week 1 betting lines. All but four games are featuring ‘totals’ of 41.5 or lower.

It should come as no surprise that the lowest ‘total’ of the week involves two of the nastiest teams in the league, the Ravens and the Steelers. These two almost always play games in the 20s or 30s, and this should be no exception. The oddsmakers have placed this ‘total’ at just 36, and if Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate, that number could fly down into the low-30s by the time the ball is kicked off.

The clash between the other two AFC North teams, the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns is set just a half point lower at 35.5. Though these two have a history of playing some higher scoring affairs, these two teams are just brutally offensively challenged this year. The Bengals really have no clue how to stay out of their own way with QB Andy Dalton and a host of running backs and receivers that truly aren’t all that talented, and Cleveland didn’t go out in the offseason and pick up any real help for QB Colt McCoy.

One of the highest ‘totals’ of all the NFL week one lines was the 46 hung in the Houston/Indianapolis game. And why not? These two teams have played three straight games to at least 47 points, and a number of games in this series have gotten into the 50s and 60s. However, with QB Peyton Manning now in doubt, that ‘total’ has dipped to 43. The highest ‘total’ of the week is the 47 posted in the Green Bay/New Orleans opener.

Fantasy Football picks are here at Bankroll Sports this year, and we are going to try to make the most of your NFL props betting options at BoDog Sportsbook by giving you some of the best fantasy football sleepers in Week 1!

Houston Texans Defense vs. Indianapolis Colts
This is a relatively easy choice to make this week, but for a lot different reason than you think. Sure, Indianapolis is likely going to be without QB Peyton Manning, and we know that that means trouble for the Colts’ offense. However, the Texans are switching to this new 3-4 look of Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips, and the unit is as healthy as it has been in years. Don’t be surprised if there are just a ton of blitzes off of the corners and off of the edges, and if QB Curtis Painter is the man that is going to be throwing passes, he probably will end up getting sacked several times, especially if Indy is playing catch-up against the Texans’ potent offense.

DeAngelo Williams vs. Arizona Cardinals
It’s clear that the Panthers are going to run the heck out of the football this year, but more importantly, Arizona ranked No. 31 of the 32 teams against fantasy running backs. Williams just cashed in on a big time deal, and he is inevitably going to end up touching the ball a slew of times in this game. Will he end up getting to the end zone? That’s always the big question between he and RB Jonathan Stewart, but if you’re looking for a relatively consistent option against a bad defense this week, this is your man.

Jimmy Graham vs. Green Bay Packers
The tight end position is definitely a tough one, especially if you don’t have one of those elite tight ends that you know could be worth a gold mine. Graham has been a trendy pick over the past few weeks, and though we don’t necessarily buy into the hype for the whole season, we do buy it against the Packers. First off, it is clear that this has the ability to be a very, very high scoring game. Secondly, Green Bay ranked No. 29 in the league against tight ends last season. It’s no shock that QB Drew Brees loves using his tight ends down by the goal line, and you can bet that Graham is going to get his targets. Don’t be surprised if the former Miami Hurricane is in store for a big, big day to start the season on Thursday night.

Chad Ochocinco vs. Miami Dolphins
With WR Wes Welker facing his neck injury, someone is going to have to catch the ball over the middle for the Pats. It’s not like QB Tom Brady isn’t going to throw the ball at least 30-35 times in this one, and Ochocinco should be the subject of a lot of those targets. The Fins don’t have a fantastic secondary even though they feel as though they do, and with the ball being put up in the air so many times, some receiver has to get the targets. Many of you probably drafted Ochocinco in the middle rounds of your fantasy football draft, and he makes for a fantastic start this week on your fantasy team and for all of your NFL prop picks.

Week 1 of the 2011 college football campaign is going to get underway this weekend. Below you will find the current list of 2011 Week 1 NCAA football lines and spreads along with a breakdown of the Week 1 college football lines. Be sure to check out the free NCAA football picks from the expert handicappers at Bankroll Sports this weekend!

The 2011 college football season is finally here! On Thursday night, there are a slew of games on the slate, but most of the bunch feature FBS teams taking on FCS squads. The only battle between two teams that are both from AQ conferences is the one between the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Syracuse Orange. The ‘Cuse went bowling last year, but neither of these teams are really expected to be doing much damage in their respective conferences. this is also the closest spread of the FBS vs. FBS games on Thursday, as Wake Forest is a seven point pup at the Carrier Dome.

On Friday, there is just one major game on the docket, and it’s a doozy. The TCU Horned Frogs are six point favorites over the Baylor Bears in Waco. This game has historically been a romp, but TCU is having to break in an entirely new team this season. This might be the best chance for QB Robert Griffin III to finally shine in the national spotlight in what could be a respectable season for Baylor.

Saturday is a day for the kings, though! There are definitely two games that are likely to be National Championship elimination battles.

The “undercard” of the two games features the Boise State Broncos on the road against the Georgia Bulldogs. This was supposed to be the fixture several years ago in which Boise State was put on the map, but the Dawgs blew it out “Between the Hedges.” Now, the scene shifts to the Georgia Dome. It’ll still definitely be a pro-Georgia crowd inside the Dome, but the Broncos certainly have the confidence to do damage against some of the best teams in the nation. UGA, a team that has gotten a ton of disrespect in the offseason, is a three point underdog on Saturday.

The main event comes for the Oregon Ducks and the LSU Tigers. LSU is likely to be without QB Jordan Jefferson, who has been suspended indefinitely for some off the field issues, but it still has one of the best defenses in the land. Oregon’s offense is going to be tested for certain, just as it was in the National Championship Game last year against another of the SEC West teams, Auburn. This game was originally lined at a pick ‘em, but thanks to Jefferson’s likely suspension, the Ducks are now two point chalks at Dallas Cowboys Stadium.

But the CFB betting weekend doesn’t stop there! Sunday features a pair of games this week with a pair of instate rivals meeting up. The Marshall Thundering Herd are three TD underdogs in Morgantown against the West Virginia Mountaineers, while the Texas A&M Aggies start off what will likely be their last season in the Big XII as 16 point favorites against the SMU Mustangs.

Monday Night Football isn’t quite in its normal form on Labor Day night. Instead of seeing the pros, we’re going to get our first whiff of ACC action. The Miami Hurricanes have all sorts of problems off the field right now, especially knowing that QB Jacory Harris, who was already battling for his job with QB Stephen Morris, now could be suspended thanks to all of these allegations with illegal benefits from boosters. The Terps will be debuting new Head Coach Randy Edsall on Monday, and this is a big time game that could determine whether either of these teams are going to be in the conference title hunt. Maryland is a five point pup on Monday, but this should be a fantastic clash when it’s all said and done.

After weeks and weeks of waiting, the NFL odds are finally out for the first week of the preseason, and we are just days away from kicking it off! All 32 teams will be in action from Thursday through Monday, and the games are going to be hot and heavy for sure.

There are going to be a ton of new faces and old faces in new places to get used to this week. In the City of Brotherly Love, Head Coach Andy Reid will debut his brand spanking new secondary for the Philadelphia Eagles on the first night of football games in 2011, complete with Asante Samuel, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, and Nnamdi Asomugha. The Eagles will take on a Baltimore Ravens team which is going to try to figure out how to bolster its depth behind QB Joe Flacco in its exhibitions. The Eagles are three point home favorites.

These aren’t nearly the only home favorites around the 3-4 point range. In fact, 11 of the 16 home teams are favored by between 2.5 and 4.5 points on the Week 1 preseason NFL odds.

The biggest underdogs on the board are, to no surprise, the Indianapolis Colts. It has been seemingly forever since they have had a winning preseason, and we know that we are going to see very little of QB Peyton Manning. The St. Louis Rams are really an up and coming team and are still getting used to the idea of QB Sam Bradford being the face of the franchise. After beating the New England Patriots last year in Foxboro in the preseason, the Rams are seven point favorites on Saturday night.

There are going to be a ton of starting quarterbacks and potential starting rookies that are making debuts this week as well. The Jacksonville Jaguars will showcase Blaine Gabbert, the Cincinnati Bengals could be starting Andy Dalton, the San Francisco 49ers will surely give some time to Colin Kaepernick, the Tennessee Titans will have Jake Locker on display, the Minnesota Vikings will trot out Christian Ponder, and most importantly, the Carolina Panthers will turn to their potential savior, the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, Cam Newton. Veterans that are going to be with new teams of note include the Vikes with Donovan McNabb, the Arizona Cardinals with Kevin Kolb, the Washington Redskins with John Beck, and the Seattle Seahawks with Tarvaris Jackson.

Totals, as always, as incredibly low on the preseason NFL Week 1 betting lines. The lowest ‘totals’ are the 32.5s in the Pittsburgh/Washington game and the Tampa Bay/Kansas City game, while the highest is 35.5 in several different games.

Most of the moneyline prices are close as well. Save for the Rams and Colts, there are no favorites that are greater than -175 and no underdogs greater than +155.

There are also just two road favorites on the board on the Week 1 NFLX odds. The Green Bay Packers are two point favorites over the Cleveland Browns, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are favored by a point over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The week wraps up with Monday Night Football with the Houston Texans rolling out their new 3-4 defensive scheme against the New York Jets and their vaunted defense.

The first week of the 2010 NFL football regular season is nearly here! In order to get you prepped for all of the festivities, Bankroll Sports has our analysis along with quick rundown of all the week 1 NFL lines and everything else you need to know for the opening week of the year!

Where else could we start than with a rematch of the epic NFC Championship Game?!?! The New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings will get the season started with their opening game broadcasted on NBC. We now know that the Vikings are going to have QB Brett Favre under center, but there is still a significant question whether or not he is really ready to go. Favre took a beating in this game last year and after throwing no TDs and two picks in the preseason, there is reason to believe that this could be a long night in the Bayou.

The biggest favorites of Week 1 at this point are the New York Giants against the Carolina Panthers. The G-Men are favored by a full seven points. This is a rare week with a ton of chalk coming on the road, but double digit favorites will inevitably become avaiable for hosts again next week.

Brand new quarterbacks are going to be en vouge for various NFL teams in Week 1, the Panthers of which are one of them. In all likelihood, Matt Moore will be starting on Opening Day for Carolina, marking the first time that Jake Delhomme didn’t start under center for the team in a number of years. Speaking of Delhomme, he’ll be the new man in charge for the Cleveland Browns, who are three point underdogs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1.

The quarterback changes continue in Pittsburgh, where QB Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended for at least the first month of the season. With Byron Leftwich battling an injured knee, it appears as though Dennis Dixon is going to be given the task of leading the troops in black and gold into battle against the Atlanta Falcons. The hosts are rare underdogs at home, as they are 2.5 point pups.

The only rookie quarterback that is starting in Week 1 is Sam Bradford with the St. Louis Rams. Bradford, the team’s top pick in the NFL Draft, clearly outplayed QB AJ Feeley for the starting job, particularly in a road win at the New England Patriots in the third week of the preseason. St. Louis is hosting the Arizona Cardinals, another team getting used to a new quarterback. QB Derek Anderson performed well enough in the Cards’ exhibitions that QB Matt Leinart, once considered the future of the franchise, was released outright. Anderson and the rest of his Arizona mates are four point road favorites at the Edward Jones Dome.

Both the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins will be playing new QBs as well. The ‘Skins made arguably the move of the offseason by trading for long-time Eagles QB Donovan McNabb. McNabb’s Redskins were once 3.5 point pups to their rivals, the Dallas Cowboys at home in Week 1, but with McNabb still up in the air injured, the line has been taken off the board. For Philadelphia, QB Kevin Kolb is the man in charge of the team now that McNabb is gone. Kolb showed plenty of promise in his few appearances before McNabb departed, but the oddsmakers aren’t showing the Eagles any love. They are short three point home underdogs to the Green Bay Packers in Week 1.

New Meadowlands Stadium will be opening with both the New York Giants and New York Jets will be playing in Week 1. The Giants will kick off against Carolina, while the Jets are going to be playing on Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens. The home team is favored by 2.5 points in that NFL betting encounter.

Complete List of Week 1 College Football Lines Can Be Found Below

Most of the 120 teams across the country in FBS are set to kick it off between Thursday and next Monday, and here at Bankroll Sports, we’ve got all you need to know when you’re ready to analyze the Week 1 college football betting lines!

As always, there are a number of huge favorites that are going to be all over the board in the first week of play across the nation. The Ohio State Buckeyes, USC Trojans, Michigan State Spartans, Florida Gators, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma Sooners, Wisconsin Badgers, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Clemson Tigers, and Auburn Tigers are all favored by at least three touchdowns will be likely coast to easy victories against their lesser foes.

However, not every game on the slate has such little intrigue. On the opening day of the season on Thursday, the Utah Utes and Pittsburgh Panthers will square off in a rematch of the first ever BCS busting game. The Utes became the first team from a non-BCS conference to make it to a major bowl game, and they crippled the Panthers that day at the Fiesta Bowl. This will be the first time these two squads meet. Second year men will be on display, as RB Dion Lewis for Pitt and QB Jordan Wynn for Utah will be at center stage.

Keep as close eye as well on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders on Thursday, as QB Dwight Dasher might be able to lead the hosts to a big win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. MTSU is a three point underdog but is certainly a live dog that might be worth backing.

The Connecticut Huskies and Michigan Wolverines will fight it out in the Big House in what could be a huge game for both programs. The Huskies are still searching for some respect, and Heisman Trophy candidate, RB Jordan Todman will be the main focus of the attack. This is a do or die year for HC Rich Rodriguez in Ann Arbor, and he’ll need to come forth with a good effort to start the season or risk the wrath of the media and boosters calling for his head before the Big Ten season even gets started. This is a game that Michigan certainly expects to win even though it is just a three point favorite.

There are two big time rivalry games to keep on your radar as well. The Colorado Buffaloes will meet the Colorado State Rams at Mile High in a neutral site game to determine the top team in the Rockies for another year. It’s a big one for HC Dan Hawkins, who knows that a second straight loss to a poor CSU squad will ultimately probably cost him his job. The Buffs are 13 point favorites.

It’ll also be a battle to see whether the Bluegrass becomes a red state or a blue state, as Joker Phillips takes over the Kentucky Wildcats and Charlie Strong starts his coaching career with the Louisville Cardinals. Both of these new coaches would love a win over their arch rivals to get the teams going in 2010, but only one will cover the NCAA football odds in this one. The visiting Wildcats are favored by 3.5 points.

Saturday night wraps up with a crucial tilt between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Fresno State Bulldogs. We all know HC Pat Hill’s mantra… Anyone, anytime, anywhere. Cincinnati has no fear of coming West, as it did so last year in beating Oregon State en route to its perfect regular season. QB Zach Collaros will have a ton of pressure on his backside in this game, as he is taking over for QB Tony Pike. New HC Butch Jones is a 2.5 point underdog in this, his first game at U of C, but the Cats could scratch out a victory to open up their campaign.

However, Week 1 wouldn’t be complete without one of the biggest games of the entire year. The Boise State Broncos are probably going to put their BCS dreams on the line at FedEx Field when they take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in a “neutral site game” that is going to look at lot like Lane Stadium would on your average Saturday. The stars will be shining in this, the first Top 10 battle of the year. The winner will have a massive leg up towards the BCS this year, while the loser will already have their National Championship hopes dashed in Week 1. The Broncos have finally gained some respect against the big boys in the big conferences, as they are 2.5 point favorites in this de facto road game.

Complete List of Week 1 NFL Preseason Lines Can Be Found Below

NFL preseason betting action started last Sunday with the Hall of Fame Game, as the Dallas Cowboys knocked off the Cincinnati Bengals 16-7. The other 30 teams kick off their season this week, as NFL wagering warriors have a full slate of 16 games to sink their teeth into.

As always, the oddsmakers are having a tough time deciding which team to favor and by how many points in the first week of preseason action. Thirteen of the 16 home teams are favored this week, but none by more than 3.5 points. The only teams that are underdogs at home are the Indianapolis Colts and the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals are playing against the perennial preseason powers, the Houston Texans. The quarterback rotation for the Texans might not be superior to that of the Cardinals, but in the end, the depth that Houston has at its disposal is just better than Arizona’s, which is why the oddsmakers have installed them as slender one point choices.

As for the Colts, they are sluggish during every preseason, as QB Peyton Manning rarely plays and his reserves are basically commanded to try to make the game go by as quickly as possible. When you’re as good as Indy is, you don’t need four preseason games to figure out what your rotation is going to look like in the regular season. You know that #18 is going to be chucking the pigskin all over the field, and everything else will typically work itself out.

The most intriguing game on the slate this week comes between the Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Rams. Both teams are going to have a fierce battle for the starting quarterback position. The Vikes, mired in the Brett Favre saga, are going to enter battle in the preseason with Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels, and Joe Webb battling to become the successor to the great #4 in purple. The city of St. Louis should enjoy the debut of QB Sam Bradford, the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft from this year. Along with Bradford though, HC Steve Spagnuolo is going to have AJ Feeley, Keith Null, and rookie Thaddeus Lewis to take a look at.

That Vikes/Rams duel on Saturday night has the lowest posted ‘total’ on the board at 31.5. The highest ‘total’ is only 35, with that coming on the first game of the first full week of play in the preseason between the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots.
