Brent Celek Over/Under 4.5 Receptions
Celek has looked like a significantly bigger piece to the offense for the Eagles in the last few weeks, and he could be in store for a nice game on Thursday as well. With QB Vince Young under center over the last two weeks, Celek has 11 receptions for 135 yards. The Seattle defense has been prone to underneath passing routes this year, and this is where Celek really makes his living. We just don’t trust that WR DeSean Jackson is going to be in the game mentally after being suspended and benched in two of the team’s last three games, and we already know that WR Jeremy Maclin is out, so that really could open things up for Celek to have a nice game on Thursday. Seattle Longest Pass Completion Over/Under 34.5 Yards
This is a sucker’s bet if we’ve ever seen one. You’d like to think that this is a gimme to just get one pass play of at least 35 yards over the course of a game, right? However, we just don’t see this happening anywhere near half the time, especially against these great corners that the Eagles have. RB Marshawn Lynch isn’t a back that catches many passes out of the backfield, and RB Leon Washington, the man that could take a screen pass 60 yards doesn’t get on the field often enough to scare us. WR Doug Baldwin and WR Ben Obamanu are both relatively slow, and WR Sidney Rice, the team’s only game breaker on the outside was put on IR this past week. Last week, there wasn’t even a pass play that went for 30 yards, let alone 35, and you have to remember that we are talking about a quarterback here in QB Tarvaris Jackson that only has thrown for 221 yards or fewer in each of his last four games. Don’t count on a big pass play tonight. Seattle Longest Pass Completion Under 34.5 Yards (-115 at BetOnline Sportsbook).

Vince Young Over/Under 22 Pass Completions
We know that Head Coach Andy Reid loves to throw the football, and we know that Young has had himself two games with relatively gaudy stats over the last two weeks. However, it just isn’t going to be the case on Thursday. Last week, Young threw the ball 48 times because the Eagles were trailing the game from basically the start of the second quarter on against a team with no secondary whatsoever. The week before, he went 23-of-36 for 258 yards against a New York secondary that has had its share of problems as well. Now, VY is going against a Seattle team that doesn’t have a brutally bad secondary, and at least if the NFL betting lines hold up, Philly may actually be winning at some point over the course of this game. Asking a backup quarterback to go on the road and complete 23 passes is just a very, very tall order. Vince Young Under 22 Pass Completions (-115 at BetOnline Sportsbook).

The NFC East odds are expected to be some of the toughest in the NFL this year, and here at Bankroll Sports, we’re keying in all four teams to make our pro football picks to make the NFL playoffs.

The team du jour right now in the NFC East is the Philadelphia Eagles (Current NFC East Odds: 1.10 to 1 at Oddsmaker Sportsbook). The Eagles are definitely a significantly more talented defense this year with the additions of DBs Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Nnamdi Asomugha, but there is definitely a question or two about the other side of the ball. QB Michael Vick had as good of a season as any signal caller could have asked for both running and throwing, but if anything happens to him, the team is stuck with QB Vince Young instead of the traded QB Kevin Kolb.

We know that the Dallas Cowboys (NFC East Lines: 4 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) have to be an improved team this season. This was a team that was devastated by the new salary cap rules, but losing out on players like WR Roy Williams just doesn’t match what the team is going to be getting back with QB Tony Romo. Head Coach Jason Garrett had this team rolling at the end of last season, and we think that this could be the most dangerous team on the board this year in the NFC East.

Don’t forget about the New York Giants (Odds to Win the NFC East: 3.50 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). The G-Men always seem to have a solid team, and this year should be no exception. Losing rookie DB Prince Amukamara to a broken foot will hurt, but Head Coach Tom Coughlin still has a stout unit in his defensive front seven, and he definitely has the talent offensively with QB Eli Manning, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, WR Steve Smith, and company.

Bringing up the rear of the division this year will be the Washington Redskins (2011 NFC East Odds: 20 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). Washington has a mess with its position players, as there just isn’t enough talent at wide receiver and running back to help out whomever is going to be playing quarterback. Head Coach Mike Shanahan knows that he has a lot of work to do on this team in a relatively short period of time before Owner Daniel Snyder gets frustrated, and we just don’t think that the combo of QB Rex Grossman and QB John Beck is going to put fear in anyone’s eyes. The Skins should be in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes this year as one of the worst teams in the league.

The Houston Texans are the team that has almost been able to finish off a number of epic wins this year… However, they have almost always fallen short and are on playoff life support again because of it. The Philadelphia Eagles are in significantly better shape at 7-4 right now, but a loss would be catastrophic. These two intra conference foes square off in the City of Brotherly Love tonight, and here at Bankroll Sports, we have your fantastic prop picks for the duel on the NFL Network.

Arian Foster Over/Under 82.5 Rushing Yards
Why the oddsmakers continue putting such little faith in Foster is beyond us. This is a man that leads the NFL in rushing and is averaging over 100 yards per game on the ground. To think that he could get to the 1,500 yard barrier without breaking a sweat is amazing. And now, against a defense that has been iffy at best at times, you think that Foster is going to stop? We certainly don’t think so. It always has and always will be the philosophy of HC Gary Kubiak that, no matter how good his passing game is, that he needs to establish the run in order to win games. The former Tennessee Volunteer is coming off of a game in which he carried the ball 30 times for 143 yards. In games in which he has at least 17 carries, Foster has gotten to this total six times against two in which he didn’t. He should get at least 20 carries on the day, and if he gets that, Foster will have no problem going Over 82.5 Rushing Yards (-115 at Hollywood Sportsbook) on Thursday Night Football.

Will Arian Foster Score a Touchdown?
Here we go again with Foster. Let’s just do some simple math right here, shall we? The man has 13 TDs on the campaign in 11 games. Just right there, that’s an average of over a score per game. If he recorded a TD in at least 11 games this on this season, he would be a winner for the year on a prop of this juice. Okay, so he was held out of the end zone last week. Big whoop. Over the previous five weeks, Foster had eight TDs on the ground and one through the air, and he scored at least one in all of those games. He is the undisputed back down by the goal line, and he is the second best receiving option that QB Matt Schaub has. At some point, if Houston is scoring, it is highly like that Foster will be the man doing the deed. Foster Will Score a Touchdown (-130 at Hollywood Sportsbook).

DeSean Jackson Over/Under 68.5 Receiving Yards
Glover Quin, meet DeSean Jackson. D-Jax, meet arguably the worst starting cornerback in the NFL today. It doesn’t seem to matter who Quin is guarding, opposing quarterbacks just seem to find a way to get them the ball. Vick has an absolute rocket for an arm, and odds have it, Jackson will at least get one shot in this game to catch one pass that will cover this entire total. Knowing the Kareem Jackson isn’t all that much better on the other side of the field and that their safeties are a sieve, there is just no way that the Texans are keeping one of the most explosive receivers in the league under this total. Jackson will be a triple digit receiver this week, and he’ll easily go Over 68.5 Receiving Yards (-115 at Hollywood Sportsbook) against the Texans.

Jeremy Maclin Over/Under 69.5 Receiving Yards
Do we need to introduce Glover Quin to Jeremy Maclin as well? Perhaps we should. Mr. Quin, this will be the other man that is constantly running past you all game long. Maclin should be the more consistent target of QB Michael Vick in this one, and as long as Vick doesn’t have a field day throwing all over the place to Jackson, Maclin should reach his total as well. He’ll go Over 69.5 Receiving Yards (-115 at Hollywood Sportsbook).

The Washington Redskins could have their 2010 NFL betting campaign put on the line on Monday Night Football, as they are taking on their divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles at home in a huge encounter. Longest Field Goal Over/Under 44.5 Yards
This isn’t a prop that we go after often, but we’re talking about two kickers here that have some very strong legs and aren’t going to miss many from this type of a range. K David Akers has blasted six field goals already this year of at least 40 yards, and he has had four games in which he booted one from at least 45 this year. For his career, Akers is 94-for-143 from 40+ yards, and we know that he is going to be given a great chance to do his thing at some point during this game as long as the Washington defense doesn’t just roll over and die. However, we have confidence in K Graham Gano as well for Washington. Gano hasn’t had all that many chances this year to connect from 40+ yards, but he has taken advantage, going 5-for-6 from 40-49 yards. Though he is 0-for-2 from 50+ yards, we know from his days with Florida State that he can boot it 60 if need be. He has four games this year with at least one 45 yard boot as well. This is probably somewhere between a 66% and 75% chance of winning this prop, and we only have to pay -120 for it. You betcha. The longest field goal of this game will be Over 44.5 Yards (-120 at Hollywood Sportsbook) on Monday Night Football.

Michael Vick Over/Under 240.5 Passing Yards
When the Eagles faced the Redskins the first time, all that Joe Buck and Troy Aikman kept mentioning is how bad this Washington secondary really is. They’re a bunch of gamblers there that are prone to giving up the deep ball. After Vick left the game injured in the second quarter, QB Kevin Kolb had no desire to try to push the ball up the field. However, when you’ve got a cannon for an arm, WR DeSean Jackson, and WR Jeremy Maclin to work with, you just absolutely have to use those weapons and test those biting corners. This is a great spot for Vick to really shine and show off his arm. We wouldn’t be all that surprised if he hit three or four real bombs in this game, and in spite of the fact that he might not complete all that many passes, we have confidence that he will use these weapons to the fullest and go Over 240.5 Passing Yards (-115 at Hollywood Sportsbook).

Will DeSean Jackson Score a Touchdown?
Interesting line here. We tend to want to stay away from these props, as the sportsbooks generally have these right, but this is a big game in which big plays are going to have to be made. Jackson is the best candidate to catch a TD, run for a trick play, or run a kick or punt back the distance as well. Remember, don’t just focus on what the Cal Golden Bear can do as a wide out. Any touchdown that isn’t a passing score does it for us here. Do you really think that Jackson isn’t scoring at least once in the biggest game of Philadelphia’s season? Knowing if he only does it half the time gives us some tremendous profitability, we have no hesitations going with Jackson to Score a TD (+115 at Hollywood Sportsbook) against the Redskins.

Jeremy Maclin Over/Under 54.5 Receiving Yards
Remember the argument that we made for Vick to go ‘over’ his total number of passing yards? We’re going to use the exact same argument that supports Maclin exceeding this relatively low total. One well place deep ball could get Maclin there by itself, and we know that Vick is going to be using him quite a bit in this game. There are no doubts in our minds that Maclin will go Over 54.5 Receiving Yards (-115 at Hollywood Sportsbook).

The hot seat. Every coach finds himself on it at some point in his career. Some persevere, while others fold under the pressure. This year in the NFL, there are a number of coaches that are facing potential do or die situations. Check out who those coaches are, why they’re in trouble, what we can expect of them this year, and their odds to win the Super Bowl.

Chan Gailey, Buffalo Bills (+10000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): Bottom line: When you’re not a good coaching hire in the first place, you’re always on the hot seat. Gailey was an awful coach at virtually every stop along the way in his career, and this is probably going to be no exception. It looks like he has decided that QB Trent Edwards is the man to try to take his team from the ranks of the worst in the league to respectability. No chance. Edwards is, at best, the fifth best quarterback in this division, and he is clearly not the answer. Gailey will probably survive regardless, but this year has the potential to be a bloody one. We’ve seen coaches dismissed after one year before. Gailey might be the next in line.

Gary Kubiak, Houston Texans (+3000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): Playoffs or bust. That’s the ultimatum that has been handed down from owner Bob McNair to Kubiak this year for the Texans. This is the only franchise in the NFL that has never tasted the playoffs, and by now, the fourth year of his rule in Houston, the Texans should be making the playoffs, particularly with the type of talent that the team has. The only problem is that the schedule is an absolute nightmare this year. Houston has also already lost its second round draft pick and projected starting RB Ben Tate, which really only leaves RBs Arian Foster and Steve Slaton. This could be a bad situation if Foster doesn’t pan out. Still, the top rated passing attack in the NFL from last year is only getting better with every pass that QB Matt Schaub throws. Every year this team gets better and better. Last year was the squad’s first season above .500. This should be the year that the playoffs are reached.

Jack Del Rio, Jacksonville Jaguars (+10000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): Here’s a man that probably should have already been fired. Jacksonville has drafted poorly in recent years, and it is really catching up. The team simply isn’t that great. The decision to make QB David Garrard the starter a few years ago paid off in the short term but has crippled the franchise now that it really needs its boost, as the Jags are threatening to move to Los Angeles if ticket sales don’t pick up. Unless RB Maurice Jones-Drew intends on having a year like Chris Johnson did last season in Tennessee, don’t expect Del Rio to be heading anywhere but the unemployment line once the year is out.

Andy Reid, Philadelphia Eagles (+3000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): It’s hard to think that the Eagles would part ways with Reid after all of the playoff years that this franchise has had, but this is the same team that just dumped QB Donovan McNabb unceremoniously to a divisional rival in exchange for a bag of peanuts and a box of footballs. Reid needs to at least finish .500 this year with new QB Kevin Kolb, or he might be out the door. The Eagles are searching for a new direction, and the fact that Reid only brought the team to one Super Bowl and never won the big one could ultimately cost him. If the standard of his job is going to be measured on the playoffs, the City of Brotherly Love will be watching the last season of Reid on the sidelines in green.

Lovie Smith, Chicago Bears (+5000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): The Bears made the biggest splash of the offseason last year when they acquired QB Jay Cutler from the Denver Broncos. Cutler failed miserably, and the team flat out stunk last season. Now, Chicago was back at it again this year, picking up DE Julius Peppers, the best free agent that the open market has seen in years in the NFL. An 0-3 start to the preseason with just 36 total points scored isn’t a good start if you’re looking to put good mojo into your team for your make or break season. Somehow, Smith, just like Marvin Lewis in Cincinnati, finds a way to keep saving his job with one good year every so often. This could be that “every so often” year in the Windy City… but if it isn’t, it is high time that Smith goes.

John Fox, Carolina Panthers (+6000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): The Panthers know that this is probably going to be a down year, but Fox is just as much putting them on the hot seat as they are putting him there. The team did go out and dump QB Jake Delhomme after so many failed seasons, and they even brought in his eventual successor, QB Jimmy Clausen in the NFL Draft. However, Fox doesn’t want to wait for some rookie to groom. He wants to win and win now. The rushing attack is great with both RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart capable of rushing for 1,000+ yards. However, the defense lost the aforementioned Peppers and has a lot of work to do to return to respectability. The Panthers are clearly the third best team in this division, and the end result could be a long, long season in which Fox either gets fired before its conclusion, or tells the team that he is not renewing his contract at season’s end.

#1 Green Bay Packers (+1000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): The Pack posted the best marks in the league last year for NFL betting fans, going 11-4-1 ATS. They are going to be back with a fantastic offense loaded with talent. QB Aaron Rodgers is likely to reach the 4,000 yard barrier for the third straight season to start his career, which is a feat that even some of the greatest in NFL history never even remotely came close to. If DC Dom Capers’ defense can keep its head on straight and post some of the best numbers in the league once again, there’s no reason to think that the Green Bay won’t once again be on top of the NFL ATS power ratings.

#2 Atlanta Falcons (+2500 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): It’s impressive to think that the Falcons followed up a playoff campaign in 2008 with a non-playoff one in 2009 but still went a lofty 11-5 ATS. Could that bode even better for this year? HC Mike Smith thinks he has a winning formula, so he brought back the majority of players from last year’s 9-7 team. The only real key additions were LB Sean Weatherspoon, acquiring in the first round of the NFL Draft, and DB Dunta Robinson, who was picked up via free agency from the Houston Texans. Picking up Robinson was key, as it was the pass defense that really hurt this team late in games last season. Asking for 11 covers again this season might be a bit much, but Atlanta should post another great record this year.

#3 Indianapolis Colts (+600 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): As long as #18 is roaming the sidelines for the Colts, they are going to be a difficult team to bet against. One would figure that the oddsmakers would be incredibly tough on them week in and week out, but in spite of the fact that their numbers are almost always at least a tad inflated, they went a rock solid 10-5-1 ATS in 2009. This could be the year that Indy snaps back to earth if the NFL spreads keep as high as they have been in recent seasons. It has a brutal schedule, and QB Peyton Manning is going to have to contend with a new offensive coordinator, as Tom Moore has retired.

#4 San Francisco 49ers (+3000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): This is probably a make-or-break season in the coaching career of Mike Singletary. No man asks for more from his team, nor will anyone get more from his players than does Singletary. Still, in spite of the fact that he went an awesome 9-4-3 ATS in last year’s regular season, Singletary has still yet to take this team to the playoffs. With a quarterback rotation set in stone and one of the most talented offensive lines in the game, the 49ers have no excuses this year. As long as the oddsmakers don’t start putting up unrealistically high numbers on it, San Francisco is going to be a great bet, particularly as underdogs this season.

#5 Cleveland Browns (+10000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): The Browns closed out last season by winning four straight games both SU and ATS to finish the year at 10-6 ATS. The turnaround was sparked by the addition of GM Mike Holmgren to the staff. Holmgren decided to retain HC Eric Mangini, but he dumped both of his quarterbacks. If QB Jake Delhomme can reinvent himself and the Browns play as hard as they did down the stretch last season, they could challenge for a playoff spot in the AFC. The Steelers, Bengals, and Ravens need to be very careful when this team turns up on the schedule. The end result should be covers galore!

#6 Minnesota Vikings (+1000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): This is a team that is probably damned if it does and damned if it doesn’t. If QB Brett Favre does come back to Minnesota, it will likely be overinflated in most every game it plays due to the fact that Favre had an epic season last year. If he doesn’t come back, the oddsmakers are still probably going to overrate this team due to the fact that Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels flat out stink. Duplicating last year’s 9-6-1 ATS mark is going to be virtually impossible unless someone comes up with a truly Herculean effort.

#7 Philadelphia Eagles (+3000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): Fly Eagles, fly! Philly could be an interesting team to back this year if QB Kevin Kolb can step right into the role that QB Donovan McNabb vacated when he was traded to the Washington Redskins in the offseason. The Eagles could have a porous defense which holds them back this year though, which could make that 9-7 ATS mark from 2009 difficult to repeat. Still, a lot of NFL lines are going to be tight when this team takes on its competitors, so if you think Philadelphia can win nine games, you probably think it can cover nine spreads as well.

#8 New York Jets (+1200 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): Last season, the Jets fooled a lot of teams, and the end result was a stellar 9-7 ATS mark. They marched all the way to the AFC Championship Game on the back of a strong defense and a rushing attack that ranked first in the NFL. Conventional wisdom suggests that the additions of DB Antonio Cromartie and DB Kyle Wilson could make this defense even more frightening, especially now that DT Kris Jenkins is healthy. Still, it’s going to take QB Mark Sanchez improving his game for New York to put up these types of results again.

#9 Denver Broncos (+6500 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): Though many are down on the Broncos this year, we have to remember that most of the pieces to this puzzle are once again back in place. The big losses are WR Brandon Marshall, TE Tony Scheffler, and LB Elvis Dumervil. Dumervil, who led the team with 17 sacks last year, might be able to play at the end of this season after tearing a pectoral muscle in the preseason. However, the oddsmakers are seemingly making huge adjustments to this team. Yes, the Broncos collapsed down the stretch last year, but losses don’t mean failed covers. If the numbers get too large, improving on a 9-7 ATS record from ’09 is doable.

#10 Carolina Panthers (+5000 to win Super Bowl XLV at JustBet Sportsbook): The same could be said about the Panthers and their 9-7 ATS record from last year. Losing QB Jake Delhomme might be addition by subtraction, as both Matt Moore and rookie Jimmy Clausen can’t do much worse than the former Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajun did last year. This season will once again revolve around the defense and running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. The Panthers might be able to surprise, as several are down on their chances of making the postseason in what could be the final year for HC John Fox.

The first week of April brings the rare crossover between four major sports, as the MLB, NHL, NBA, and NCAA hoops all collide. There’s no better place to start than in the NBA this week, and boy, would we love to give a piece of our mind to the New Orleans Hornets. You get G Chris Paul, your pride and joy, back in the lineup after he missed what felt like an eternity to this franchise, and you promptly come out and beat the Lakers on your home court. Great, right? After all, it’s not often that you can give up 31 points to G Kobe Bryant and 26 points and 22 rebounds to F Pau Gasol and live to tell about it. However… What gives after that, Hornets? As 9.5 point favorites, the Wizards came into New Orleans Arena and spanked the Hornets 96-91. That was followed up by a nine point loss in Memphis, which we deem to be excusable. But losing to the Nets? By four touchdowns? The bullpen for the New York Yankees is already off to a flying start this year. You’d figure in and amongst all of the money that this team spends that they’d learn that eventually, a bullpen is going to help you out, right? But no, apparently having leads of 5-1 and 7-5 aren’t good enough. It’s not bad enough that David Robertson allowed his only inherited runner to cross home plate, but then Chan Ho Park proved once again why the Yanks have no clue how to spend their bucks by giving up three runs (two earned) in a three-run seventh. Don’t worry Joba Chamberlain, we’re not forgetting the three hits and a run you gave up in your 1.1 innings worked either. The final stat line for the New York pen? 2.2 IPs, 4 runs (3 earned), 6 hits, 2 walks, 1 K, 1 HR allowed. That’s a WHIP of 3.00 and an ERA of 13.50. Stellar job, boys. Stellar.
