2008 Jacksonville Jaguars Preview

Bankroll Sports columnists have provided an NFL football team preview on the 2008 Jacksonville Jaguars. Read for information on what to expect from the Jaguars for the upcoming 2008 NFL Football Picks season.

Jacksonville Jaguars      The Jaguars did great things through free agency in the off-season. They added Jerry Porter and Troy Williamson as wide receivers. Porter is a proven NFL commodity that will mesh perfectly with the Jaguars, while Williamson has been a steady receiver for the last three seasons. These off-season moves will put the offense in a good position to move the football.

The Jaguars made serious moves in the 2008 NFL draft. Last year the team was close to being a Super Bowl contender. The Jaguars went into the draft looking for the missing pieces to the puzzle and paid heavy prices to get them. They picked up Derrick Harvey in the draft by giving away two third round picks and one fourth round pick. They also switched picks with Tampa Bay and gave away a fifth round pick in 2008 and a seventh rounder in 2009 to land Quentin Groves. This is a lot to give up in terms of possible football talent. The Jaguars will expect both Harvey and Groves to step up immediately and make an impact.

The Jaguars have a potent backfield. Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew are a lethal combination. Throw in the much improved passing attack of David Garrard and the Jaguars have an explosive offense that will give any defense fits. There is the possibility that the Jaguars can make a run for the AFC South and dethrone the Colts.

The Jaguars have some troubles near the middle of their schedule with four road games in six weeks during November and the start of December. They also have a four day work week between December 14 and December 18 games.
